At approximately 5:00 PM, officers stopped a male operating a personal watercraft on the Colorado River with a minor passenger onboard.
According to information obtained by Code3News, the operator was under the influence of alcohol and became extremely uncooperative with officers during the investigation.
The man was arrested on charges including Felony Operating Under the Influence (OUI) and Resisting Arrest. Due to his level of intoxication and refusal to cooperate, officers had to carry him to the patrol vehicle.
This incident serves as a reminder that operating a boat or personal watercraft while impaired is no different than driving a vehicle under the influence. Choosing to do so puts everyone on the water at risk, especially when children are involved.
